Did you know about Dr. Corby's death. I presume he had more banks
than anyone in the U.S. What a scramble there will be. If he has a
widow she will be hounded to death but not by me.

Death of Dr. Corby
Dr. Arthur E. Corby, New York City, passed away on February 16, after a
brief illness. An enthusiastic collector of mechanical banks for many
years, he will be greatly missed by his many friends. Survivors include
his wife and daughter Carol Ann.

Dr. A. E. Corby Dies; Dentist Led Societies
Dr. Arthur E. Corby, a practicing dentist in New York and a leader
in his profession, died yesterday in Roosevelt Hospital. He had offices
at 44 Wall St. and lived at 40 Fifth Ave.
Dr. Corby, a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, was
president of the First District Dental Society, which comprises
Manhattan and the Bronx, in 1951.
He was president of the New York Academy of Dentistry in 1945-'46,
and was general chairman in 1952 of the Greater New York Dental Meeting,
the world's largest dental seminar which is held in New York in
December.
Contributed to Publications
A contributor to numerous scientific publications, Dr. Corby was a
fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of
Dentists.
He was also a member of the American Academy of Restorative
Dentistry and the local and state affiliates of the American Dental
Association.
Dr. Corby was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania Dental
School. A man of varied interests, he played the viola in string
quartette for many years. His charcoal sketches were exhibited at the
art show of the First District Dental Society
Collected Penny Banks
For almost twenty years Dr. Corby had collected penny banks as a
hobby. It was estimated that he had 4,000 of these, said to be the
world's largest collection.
Dr. Corby was a member of the Downtown Athletic Club, Lake Placid
Club, Greenwich Village Association, New York Society of Military and
Naval Officers of World Wars, Amateur Ski Club of New York, and the
Rotary Club of New York.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Christine Zirpoli Corby, and a
daughter Carol Ann Corby.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow in Alexander
Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 7 W. 11th St.
