J. & E. Stevens Co. — Agreement with D. R. Gondie — Aug. 30, 1884
 

     Agreement by and between D. R. Gondie of Chicago, Ill. Of the first part, and The J, & E. Stevens Co. of Cromwell, Conn. of the second part.
     Whereas the said D. R. Goudie is the owner  of a certain invention known as the Multiplying Money Bank, patented Aug. 14, 1883, No. 282,978, also of an invention known as the Gondieoscope which is manufactured ubder said patent, he hereby agrees to lease his patent to The J. &. E Stevens Co. exclusively for the term of five years from the date of this agreement.
     The said The J. & E. Stevens Co. agree to use their best efforts to procure an extensive sale of the said invention and to pay to the said D. R. Gondie royalty as follows for the same on all goods manufactured and sold under said patent – forty (40¢) cents per dozen for the banks sold to retail @ 50¢ each, eighty (80¢) per dozen for the banks sold to retail @ one dollar each, and thirty five (35¢) cents per dozen for the Gondieoscope. The sum of five hundred dollars ($500) paid this day to the said D. R. Gondie is to be dedicted from the first royalty due.
     Returns of all sales to be made, and royalty paid January 1st and July 1st of each year.
     It is further agreed that, should the said The J. & E. Stevens Co. at any time persistently fail to comply with the stipulations named, all rights to the said invention shall thereupon revert to the said D. R. Gondie.
